Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Mr Festus Keyamo, has appealed to pay Tv companies, MultiChoice and Startimes, to extend subscription validity to Nigerian subscribers for a month.
Keyamo took to his Twitter handle Monday night saying this would ease the pains of Nigerians, especially workers, during the time of lockdown.
“As one of the Ministers entrusted with the welfare of Nigerian workers, I politely urge @DStvNg & @StarTimes_Ng to extend all EXISTING subscriptions by at least one month, free-of-charge, as their own contribution to ease the pains of Nigerian workers at this time of lockdown,” Keyamo said.
He also asked telecommunication companies to give Nigerians some token airtime and data not only to ease their pain of staying at home but to ensure communication is guaranteed in cases of emergencies.
Nigeria declared a total lockdown in Abuja, Lagos and Ogun on Sunday evening. The lockdown took effect from 11 pm on Monday night and will last for 14 days. Only essential services workers are allowed movements.
